Smita Bharti is a Writer, Director, Social Activist and Poet. She has written and directed over 20 mainstream plays, worked on films, video installations, interactive exhibitions and audio books. She has also worked on multiple social arts initiatives with communities spanning social, class and age strata. Through research, training, workshops, performances, films and publications, she works extensively and intensively with women and adolescents in difficult situations, in prison with under-trials, survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, incest and differently abled individuals.
She’s a senior fellow of KK Birla Foundation, WISCOMP Scholar and Rotary Global Peace Fellow. She was awarded the Laadli National Award for her play ‘Jug Jug Jiyo’ and is also the recipient of the Karmaveer Gold Chakra and Karmaveer Puraskaar for Social Change.
As Head Ideation and script writer with Sunshine Productions, she is currently developing content for GECs, Web and films.
